Alum and Faculty Member Makes Carnegie Debut
Cleveland Institute of Music alum and violin faculty member Jinjoo Cho (BM 11, MM 13, PS 15 Kantor/Laredo) made her debut in Carnegie Hall Stern Auditorium Thursday, June 9, a prize awarded to her for winning the gold medal in the 2014 International Violin Competition of Indianapolis (IVCI). Cho holds a bachelor degree, a master degree and professional studies diploma in music performance from ΊΪΑΟΜμΜΓ, and recently she was appointed to ΊΪΑΟΜμΜΓ violin faculty for the 2016-17 academic year.
Cho has been a member of the ΊΪΑΟΜμΜΓ family since coming to the United States in 2002, at which time she earned a spot in ΊΪΑΟΜμΜΓ prestigious Young Artist Program at age 14. Cho former teacher Jaime Laredo and ΊΪΑΟΜμΜΓ cello faculty Sharon Robinson, attended the performance. We were thrilled to be able to attend Jinjoo big night, says Robinson. Cho performed a program of Tower, C. Schumann, R. Schumann, Taaffe Zwilich, Corigliano and Waxman on a 1683 ex-Gingold Stradivarius, on loan to her also as a result of her IVCI win. She was joined by pianist and fellow ΊΪΑΟΜμΜΓ alum Hyun Soo Kim (MM'11, AD '13, Pontremoli). .
